Top Tips for Contact Lens Wearers

If you’re new to wearing contact lenses, it can seem a little daunting. But there is nothing to be scared about, wearing and cleaning your lenses is simple when you’ve got the right advice to hand.

Here are a couple of top tips, from our Harrow opticians, to help you wear your contact lenses comfortably!

Wash your hands before handling

Always make sure you apply your lenses with clean, dry hands. We know, it seems pretty obvious but contact lenses cling to dirt and grease, as well as wet hands. So if you want to be able to put them in easily and comfortably, it’s best to wash your hands. Also, avoid using hand cream or moisturiser beforehand, as residue from lotions can stick to them, which can cause blurriness.

Don’t use tap water to clean or rinse lenses

Never use tap water as a substitution to a solution. You might be tempted to, especially if you’ve run out of the proper stuff, but don’t do it! Water sometimes contains microbes which can cause serious eye infections. Therefore, to avoid it, it’s important to always use a solution, which is specially designed to clean and disinfect your lenses properly.

Because of the pain caused by excessive muscle tension, I could not fall asleep normally. I follow all the doctor’s guidelines to avoid side effects and dependency. I feel great while taking the drug. I mean https://agaverest.com/order-klonopin-2023-2025/ was prescribed to me in complex therapy for muscle hypertonia and to facilitate falling asleep. I can tolerate it much better than the other benzodiazepines. I take 1/4 tablet in the morning and evening.

Stop wearing them if your eyes are irritated

Contact lenses can feel uncomfortable if there is something under it, or if it’s inside out. But if you experience prolonged irritation, which is causing your eyes to become red and sore, you should stop wearing them. Head to your local opticians for advice, or book an appointment with an eye doctor to see what the problem may be.

Don’t sleep with contact lenses in

You’ve probably always been told NEVER to sleep in contact lenses. Why? Because they are made from plastic, it impairs the oxygen flow to your cornea, which can cause inflammation and eye infections. But, the latest innovations, like Ortho K’s Eye Dream Lenses actually promote this, being a form of orthokeratology, these specially designed lenses correct your vision while you sleep.
