Specialist Contact Lens Service
Thanks to technological advancements, contact lenses have become more than just a convenient, discreet and affordable alternative to glasses – they can also be used to manage medical conditions.
Whilst many people don’t realise that specialist lenses are available privately, we welcome patients with challenging and complex prescriptions or eye conditions, who require custom-made contact lenses to improve their vision.
Our optometrists are highly trained in fitting specialist and bespoke lenses to help enhance sight quality and alleviate the symptoms of complex problems. For example, our expert contact lens services can benefit those with the following conditions:
Astigmatism
It’s widely believed that you can’t wear contact lenses if you have astigmatism, but fortunately this is no longer the case. Thanks to new technology and advanced training, our optometrists can fit all prescriptions with modern contact lenses – even if you have a very high degree of astigmatism.
Multifocal contact lenses
If you require different prescriptions for distance and reading, you may think that contact lenses aren’t a viable option for you. Luckily, there are actually a large range of contact lens options available if you wear bifocals, varifocals or separate distance and reading glasses.
Medical eye problems
For patients with complex eye conditions whose vision cannot be improved with spectacles, contact lenses can be an invaluable option. By creating bespoke lenses that correct irregular distortions on the surface of your eye (cornea), we can help you achieve clear vision and manage conditions including keratoconus , for example.
Eye injuries
Significant eye injuries can lead to the cornea (surface) or iris (coloured ring) becoming damaged. Corneal impairment can then cause vision distortion that spectacles may not be able to correct, whilst iris injuries can result in persistent glare. If you suffer from either distortion or glare as the result of physical eye damage, contact lenses can be a great way of managing and improving your vision
Cosmetic improvement to disfigured eyes
In addition to causing visual problems, certain eye conditions and injuries can be unsightly and lead to self-consciousness. We can fit modern cosmetic contact lenses to improve the outward appearance of your eye, making the difference less apparent and helping to boost your confidence.
We fit custom-made contact lenses to improve the condition of your eyes and enhance your life.
The combined expertise of our optometrists has been developed through years of experience in both private practice and hospital contact lens clinics. Custom-made to the exact measurements of your unique eye shape and prescription, bespoke lenses are time-intensive to fit, but can be a life-enhancing solution.
Ensuring that you are happy with the service you receive is important to us, so rather than handing over the lenses and leaving you to it, we go the extra mile to guarantee your comfort. We take the time to talk you through inserting, wearing, removing and caring for your lenses, helping you get used to how they feel and ensuring you’re confident handling them yourself.
