History
Founded in 1934, Parker & Hammond Opticians actually began its story a decade earlier when Sydney Parker established a pharmacy in South Harrow.
A trained chemist, he qualified as an optician in 1931, incorporating an optical practice into his pharmacy three years later.
Starting as a family practice, the welcoming service and level of care that Sydney sought to provide has prevailed over the years. Susan Hammond, Sydney’s daughter, joined the family business in 1963 after qualifying as an optician, and the renown for optical excellence that is associated with the Parker & Hammond name has grown from there.
Separating from Sydney’s pharmacy in 1976, the opticians practice moved to the adjacent building on Northolt Road, and relocated once again in 1995 to our present premises. Susan continued to run the practice until 2007, when she passed it onto its present owners, Sachin Patel and Dipesh Chhatralia.
Bringing the Parker & Hammond legacy into the future.
Both experienced optometrists, Sachin and Dipesh have carried on fulfilling the Parker & Hammond vision, with their primary focus on providing families and individuals with the highest possible standard of care.
In 2011 Parker & Hammond expanded to a second practice in Northwood, making their renowned services readily available to even more patients.
Sydney’s dedication to first class service and treatment still prevails at Parker & Hammond more than 80 years later, and we remain committed to delivering outstanding eyecare to the local community, as our technical capabilities and clinical experience grow.
