Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a corneal disorder, where the surface of the eye thins and becomes distorted.
Normally dome-shaped, the cornea becomes irregular and conical, which leads to reduced and impaired vision. Spectacles can often be used to correct the blur and distortion in the early stages of the condition, but their effectiveness weakens as the condition develops.
At Parker & Hammond, we therefore provide specialist contact lenses to correct the astigmatism and induced short-sightedness caused by keratoconus. Clearer vision is restored! For milder forms where spectacles no longer improve vision, we assess patients and provide custom-designed soft contact lenses to overcome the distortion. As the condition develops, tailor-made rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses are required to achieve optimal sight correction, which we also specialise in fitting.
Our optometrists are committed to helping you see clearly again.
Our expert optometrists have extensive experience in assessing and fitting keratoconus patients with bespoke contact lenses, both in private practices and hospital clinics. We are dedicated to providing you with expert care and advice to help you manage your condition, and continually monitor your progress to ensure you are receiving the best possible treatment.
We offer a range of different contact lenses for keratoconus depending upon your requirements, including Rose K, Kerasoft, SynergEyes ClearKone, UltraHealth, Dyna Intra-Limbal, SoClear, ICD and scleral brands, to name just a few. Parker & Hammond is additionally registered with the UK Keratoconus Self Help and Support Association, meaning you can trust us to provide the care and professional service you need.
